Our Story

Smoky Hill Vineyards & Winery originated in 1991 by founders Steve Jennings and Kay Bloom. They hand-planted the first vines on a one-acre field in Salina, Kansas.

The founders eventually passed on the well-established craft to George Plante, his daughter, Nicki, and her husband, Brock, in November 2012. Smoky Hill currently works with multiple vineyards throughout the state to purchase grapes for our award-winning wines.

Our mission and philosophy is to produce outstanding wines for every palate to enjoy, while showcasing our central Kansas region.
